We're undeniably in a Parametric and Computational design boom.

What was once exclusive to elite architects and research circles is now mainstream, ESSENTIAL for designers across industries. These tools empower us to push boundaries, pose deeper questions, and realize previously inconceivable designs.

Over the past decade, I've witnessed these tools grow into sophisticated design processes. Yet, education on their use remains haphazard and lacking professional-level standards.

But before I get into that, allow me to introduce myself...

I'm Jak - and over the last 13 years I have been working as a Computational Designer, refining my skills and processes.

As skilled as I am now, it wasn't always like this.

In the past I searched and scoured the web for answers for hours and hours… finding nothing. Only to eventually accidentally fix my own problems without really knowing or understanding WHY.

Today, I want to share with you perhaps the craziest revelation I picked up on this journey.

I looked over all of my past projects from the past years, looking for patterns and repeating logics. I remembered the design teams and clients I worked with, the environment we were working in, and more importantly, how I FELT.

I realized two things;

1 Most design projects in Grasshopper can be created by following and applying a handful of principles and methodologies. Nothing more, nothing less.

2 Our Environment and the people around us hugely effects our productivity and ability to learn. If we feel insecure around a group of people we tend to shut down, if we are encouraged to ask questions and feel like a part of a community, we thrive.

This is why I created the computational mindset membership.
