Designed by Atmos studio and fabricated / installed by creative construction company Nicholas Alexander; the Mobile Orchard is a temporary piece of public artwork commissioned by the City of London Festival.
Tekne Lab developed and oversaw the entire fabrication workflows for the project, converting design information into two streams of processes; the nested CAD data required for CNC routing of +10,000 4mm birch ply parts; and the instructional drawings and processes for a 30 strong team of volunteers to organise and assemble the plywood parts into the artworks’ final elements.
